Baptism

We respond to the Lord’s command “…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit… “ by offering baptism at Golden Grove Lutheran Church.

Since Baptism is in the first place, God’s action (the Father is adopting that person as his own and giving them his wonderful promises) we baptise babies, children as well as adults.

Since baptism is also the washing away of sin and renewal in the Holy Spirit we use water, at Golden Grove Lutheran Church most often through the pouring on the person’s head, in God’s name.

Since it’s through Baptism that the baby/child/adult is becoming a member of God’s family and because it’s a celebration, baptisms most often occur in a worship service where all the church family have opportunity to gather.

Since Baptism is only the first step in this close relationship with God, we at Golden Grove Lutheran Church provide opportunities (through our children’s ministry, our school and The Journey (confirmation)) course for that person to grow in this relationship.

Baptisms are arranged through consultation with Pastor who most often visits the family in their home to explain what Baptism is and how it will occur on the mutually agreed date.
